who happen to be witches.
SYNOPSIS
The Magical Mertells is a mockumentary about the personal and professional lives of the Mertell Sisters, four teenage witches who are famous for fighting crime, selling their signature spell kits, and as the first daughters born into the Mertell line in centuries, a family where a magical gene manifests only in females. The two eldest sisters, Kandriss and Ardin, don’t always see eye to eye, but one thing they can agree on is that family comes first, especially their younger twin sisters, Vessa and Chinni. Together they navigate the perils of high school, teenage stardom, and of course, the problems they encounter along the way.
Whether they’re taming dragons for a city-wide parade, catching a gang of bank robbers, or battling it out over whose turn it is to bring in the groceries, these girls must learn that everyone’s contribution can make something great, and that even if sometimes they’d rather be “normal”, the world needs them.

What Makes the Show Unique?
Witches are some of the only characters and females in history who control their own destinies, and a lot of teenage girls go through a witchcraft phase, most notably because it gives them a sense of autonomy that they may not find in other areas of their life. These sisters have wonderful, unique powers, and watching their antics through the lens of a mockumentary/reality show like Keeping Up With The Kardashians pulls them one degree closer to reality, giving viewers a sense of their own “special power” that the world needs, too.
CHARACTERS
THE SISTERS
KANDRISS
The eldest. Competitive, adventurous, always willing to try something new. If left to her own devices, she can be a bit of a bully. Has a laserlike focus which is good because she channels her powers through a wand.
ARDIN
Studious, loyal, very invested, and a little granola. A somewhat classic middle child, she’s a fixer, perhaps the Donatello of this foursome. Very in touch with her surroundings, probably because she summons her powers through earth, air, fire, and water.
VESSA
Chinni’s identical twin. Takes herself very seriously, and always thinks she knows best, which she just might because she’s a psychic, complete with the whole tea leaves- tarot cards-palm reading situation. Has a girlfriend in college, so she’s very over this high school thing.
CHINNI
Vessa’s identical twin. Really nice. Just….. REALLY nice. Doesn’t like taking sides. Is really good at that type of magic that cheers people up: card tricks, rabbit out of the hat, flowers out of your nose. A Hufflepuff, if you will.
THE PARENTS
RAVEENA MERTELL
The chief of police and mother of the clan. Whip-smart and feisty, she is not afraid to speak her mind and take charge. Knows her daughters’ powers are helpful to her unit and the city she has sworn to protect, but also wants to keep them safe.
MARLOWE MERTELL
Father of the Mertell sisters. Whatever the dad equivalent of a “momager” is, this guy is that. A fan of strong women, he is down to let his more-than-capable wife Raveena take charge on most things.
THE FAMILIAR
BANANA
The girls’ blue pet snake and familiar. They have made a killing selling stuffed animal versions, along with their signature spell kits.
THE WORLD
HOLIDAY EPISODES
holiday party
The family is having their holiday party and in an attempt to impress their annoying Swiss cousins, Ardin accidentally causes a city-wide blizzard in LA causing all sorts of issues. The girls must work together to push the storm out over the Pacific so that airports can reopen. Everyone is happy except Hawaii who is not prepared for snow.
christmas card
Think the Kardashians’ annual Christmas card…. they usually spend an insane amount of money creating a crazy family photo, but obviously in this show it’s even better because the Mertell sisters have magical powers. All four girls think they have the best idea and argue, except for Ardin who has no ideas. Eventually they think better of it, and convince their parents to take a “normal family photo” complete with Christmas tree and a Solstice vine. Overcome with inspiration, and because she just can’t resist, Ardin slips in a nice snowfall just as the picture snaps.
winter festival
The girls are tasked with kicking off the Winter Festival for LA by freezing the Silver Lake Reservoir for ice skaters, but encounter some issues with a band of unruly dolphins. They put their heads (and their powers) together and come up with a solution that works for all of LA…. and for the dolphins.
FUTURE EPISODES
For Halloween, the girls become distracted by the press their father has booked for them, leaving the portal between our world and the netherworld open and unguarded, which they’ll have to resolve before their annual segment on Good Morning America.
On the Fourth Of July, Chinni catches stage fright for the first time and struggles to perform the fireworks show for the city of LA.
It’s April Fool’s, Kandriss switches Vessa’s real tarot cards for Chinni’s trick tarot cards, and Vessa freaks over her terrible reading regarding the future of her relationship with her college girlfriend, sending her spiraling and unable to give her talk at the National Psychics’ Alliance Conference later that day.
